The temple was originally built by the Hindu king “Sandiman” who reigned in Kashmir from 2629 to 2564 BC, but changed during different eras to Buddhist, Persian and Jewish.

It is now a popular Hindu place of worship with a fabulous walk up (or down) the hill if you are feeling energetic and it is only a short Shikara ride to the base.

HB Helen of Troy boasts exquisite and elaborate carved wooden panels throughout and on the huge balcony. Features the beautiful crewel embroidered curtains and bedspreads that are the hallmark of a quality Kashmiri houseboat.
