HB Chinar is named after the majestic Chinar Trees (Platanus orientalis) that are ubiquitous throughout the Valley, in fact the worlds oldest Chinar Tree, at approximately 700 years, is in the Kashmir Valley.

 Although not related, it's distinct Maple leaf shape is beautifully represented in the wood carved panels on this houseboat.

Located on the popular front row of Dal Lake, it looks across the waters to Shankaracharya Temple and hill. 

Water skiing and Shikara rides on the lake are right off the balcony adorned with potted plants. Transfers to the shore are quick and easy and the cost is covered by your room fee. 

Abundant bird life abounds in the large Poplar trees growing beside the boat. Dal Lake has many small islands of which most of the houseboats are moored next to (hence the trees!).

HB Chinar is also a full service houseboat, serving delicious Kashmiri cuisine for breakfast and dinner as part of the cost, and lunch additional on order.
